On behalf of PSA, I am delighted to invite you to attend the 46th PSA Onshore Refresher Conference being held in Darwin from 4 - 10 May, 2022.

Darwin offers much for the seasoned traveller with a dry tropical climate giving rise to many outdoor activities and the opportunity to connect with the local indigenous people, their culture, art, and music. Access to the surrounding iconic national parks of Kakadu and Katherine as well as the Red Centre is a bonus for those looking to explore outback Australia. These special places have been incorporated into our Pre and Post tour offerings.

The Main Conference program follows our traditional formula of unique functions which showcase the local highlights and include the famous Mindil Beach Markets and a harbour cruise. We have endeavoured to incorporate a strong indigenous flavour to the cultural and educational components which will give you a clearer understanding of their history and culture as well as the modern day challenges being faced.

All elements of the current advertised program are expected to be retained, including the education program. Leading the speaker faculty will be Prof. Peter Carroll delivering the Therapeutic Update stream ably supported by psychiatrist Prof. Nick Keks, dermatologist Dr. Diana Rubel, business guru Bruce Annabel and infectious diseases expert Prof. Bart Currie. The conference will be opened by the NT Administrator, the Hon. Vicki O’Halloran, who will provide an insight into the challenges confronting the Territory at the moment. We have also engaged one of the local indigenous leaders, Auntie Bilawarra Lee, to provide a number of presentations and activities during the conference program.

The Darwin Hilton, situated in the heart of the CBD and close to the Parliament House and harbour area, has been chosen as our conference hotel. Because of the constraints of domestic travel we have restructured our registration fee to include accommodation, breakfasts, and all functions along with the extensive education program. You will be responsible for separately purchasing the airfare component.  Capacity issues still exist for parts of our program so I would encourage you to make your bookings as soon as possible.

Of course the opportunity to again network with colleagues and catch up with old friends will have enhanced value as we emerge from the Covid-19 enforced restrictions. To do so in such an enjoyable and exotic environment is certain to be an added bonus. I look forward to sharing this special experience again with you.

Kind regards,

Warwick Plunkett
