Post Conference Program - Katherine & Kakadu National Park - SOLD OUT

10 - 14 May, 2022

This tour covers the top end scenic delights of Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge and Kakadu National Park.

Visit the spectacular sandstone country of Nitmiluk National Park and the majestic Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge with its sheer cliffs that glow in the changing light. Nitmiluk National Park is just 30 kilometres north-east of Katherine and covers a vast area, including 13 impressive gorges carved from the ancient sandstone country which stretch for as far as the eye can see.

In Kakadu National Park, Australia's largest, you'll find rugged escarpments, lush rainforest and rock art galleries up to 20,000 years old. Learn about Aboriginal culture from traditional owners, the Bininj/Mungguy people, take in thundering waterfalls and witness millions of migratory birds among the wetlands. Experience Kakadu's magic with its dramatically changing landscapes.

Lodge Rooms

These are standard 4 star accommodation with all of the usual hotel amenities you might expect.

Outback Retreats

The brand new eco tents are available to book on the registration form. Outback Retreats are built on an elevated platform to ensure year-round usability and minimal environmental impact. The canvas tents have one solid wall, a glass front door and a deck with outdoor furniture. All bedding feature high quality mattresses, toppers and linen. Interiors have been designed to reflect the Kakadu bush cape and incorporate many Australian designed and hand-built elements, including locally produces indigenous weaving and artwork.

Note: Outback Retreats have their own dedicated share bathroom and amenities centre.

The shared bathrooms are accessible only to guests in the Outback Retreats with your room key and are located centrally amongst the Retreat accommodation. Having inspected the facilities, these are spotlessly clean and well maintained. We therefore highly recommend these Outback Retreats for the adventurous provided you understand that the bathrooms are shared facilities.
