Sun 24 May Belfast to Causeway Coast
Morning / Afternoon Depart Belfast travelling along the rugged and spectacular Causeway Coast with the distant west coast mountains of Scotland as a backdrop. Our stops will include The Dark Hedges and the Carrick-e-Rede rope bridge, both sights made famous by the Game of Thrones series.  Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Giants Causeway with 40,000 or so hexagonal-shaped pillars, one of Ireland’s most spectacular attractions. Here you have an opportunity to visit the award-winning Giant’s Causeway Visitors Centre and of course take a leisurely stroll to view the famous stone pillars and dramatic coastline. A two-course lunch is included at the charming Causeway Hotel.

After lunch, continue along the spectacular coastal route with a brief stop to view the impressive remains of the medieval castle of Dunluce, the former seat of Clan McDonnell. From here, proceed to our resort hotel nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of the Roe Valley, complete with spa, golf course and walking trails to engage you.

Visit Bushmills Whiskey Distillery today, the oldest distillery in Ireland.  The original grant to distil was signed in 1608 by King James 1st and there has been distillation on this site since then, using the unique water from their own stream and Irish barley.  After a guided tour of the working distillery, enjoy a coastal drive to take in the view of Portstewart Beach and visit Mussenden Temple which is perched dramatically on a 120 ft cliff top high above the Atlantic Ocean.

Tue 26 May Galway
Morning / Afternoon Our first stop is Londonderry (also known as Derry), the only completely medieval walled city in Ireland. View the city’s murals,a keyhole view into a time that’s known widely as “The Troubles” and see the Peace Bridge, a focal point of this interesting city.

Leaving Londonderry and Northern Ireland, continue through the legendary wild scenery of County Donegal to the west coast port town of Sligo for our lunch stop (lunch own arrangements).

After lunch continue to Galway for a brief orientation tour of the city prior to checking in at the hotel. History oozes from every crack and crevice of the town which was once a bastion of the tribal Irish kings and later a hot point of contest between the natives and English loyalists.
EveningIn 2020 Galway becomes the European Capital of Culture, a year of extraordinary creativity and a perfect time to visit this lovely town. This evening is at leisure and an opportunity to explore Galway’s Latin Quarter, a lively and vibrant historic area renowned for it’s array of pubs and restaurants. (Dinner at own expense).

Afternoon The afternoon is at leisure to explore Galway at your own pace.  Between its ancient alleyways, medieval mansions like Lynch's Castle and the marketplaces of Church Lane, Galway is every inch a city of the Emerald Isle - the old Gaelic tongue is even still spoken in the bakeries and brew houses!

Enjoy a tour to the Wild Atlantic Way this morning. See the rugged beauty of The Burren, a dramatic limestone landscape which is home to 70% of Irelands 900 native plant species.  See Poulnabrone, a gravity-defying portal dolmen that’s perched here for over 5,800 years, guarding the remains of 22 people buried over the course of six centuries. Next we visit the iconic Cliffs of Moher and marvel not only at the staggering height of the rock face but the staggering views from the top.  Soaring to 214m, the striated stone reaches its long fingers southward to counties Cork and Kerry beyond, with a keen eye from O'Brien's Tower even able to spot the Aran Islands to the north.  A lunch stop will be made at the Cliffs of Moher visitor centre. 
Evening Tonight we will experience the famous Bunratty Medieval Banquet, a fun night straight from the royal court in the 15th century.

Depart Bunratty this morning and head to Killarney which will be our base for the next three nights.  Travel via the Dingle Peninsula where drama, history and great beauty are combined in a spectacular arrangement of mountain, coast and ancient settlements. En route you will see marvelous vistas all the way to the Blasket Islands. 

There will be time for lunch in the town of Dingle (lunch at own expense) before heading to the unique lakefront Europe Hotel, complete with gorgeous views over the lake and mountains. It provides easy access to the Killarney golf course and the famous tourist town.

Afternoon This afternoon we take a trip to the Gap of Dunloe – a narrow mountain pass forged between the MacGillycuddy Reeks and Purple Mountain by glacial flows.   The road, narrow in many places, winds through the pass and descends into The Black Valley passing five lakes, Coosaun Lough, Black Lake, Cushnavally Lake, Auger Lake and Black Lough. Within easy walking distance from Kate Kearney's cottage is a picturesque old bridge known as the 'Wishing Bridge'. It is said that wishes made here really do come true!Return to the town of Killarney where you can enjoy lunch and the remainder of the afternoon at leisure (lunch at own expense).

Depart Killarney this morning and travel to Dublin for the final night of the program.  A stop will be made en-route to Blarney Castle where you will have the opportunity to kiss the famous Blarney stone!  Next stop is at the Rock of Cashel, the traditional seat of the kings of Munster for several hundred years prior to the Norman invasion
