Dr. Peter Barry
Dr Peter Barry is a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at the Royal Marsden Hospital Manchester, UK. Mr Barry qualified from University of Sydney, Australia, in 2000. He obtained a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology and undertook a clinical fellowship in sarcoma and melanoma as well as with the Breast Unit at The Royal Marsden from 2000–02.
He had a surgical oncology practice in Australia, with an interest in breast oncoplastic techniques and reconstructive options following cancer surgery as well as preventative surgery for high-risk women. He also performs ultrasound of the breast in the clinic and operating theatre to localise breast lesions.
Prof. Dame Lesley Fallowfield
Professor Dame Lesley Fallowfield is Director of Sussex Health Outcomes Research & Education in Cancer (SHORE-C) psycho-oncology group at the University of Sussex. Her research interests are wide and include the measurement of quality-of-life in clinical trials of cancer therapy and development of evidence-based communication programs for healthcare professionals.
She has published over 500 papers, many book chapters, 3 textbooks and numerous evidence-based educational materials for the teaching of communication skills.
She lectures and runs training workshops throughout the world in psychosocial oncology, quality of life assessment and communication skills. She is a Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences and was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2016.
Dr. Ashutosh Kothari
Ashutosh moved to London in 1999 and joined the Hedley Atkins Breast Unit, Guys & St. Thomas Hospital, the world’s first dedicated breast cancer unit, where he has continued to work as an oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgeon. He is an onco-plastic breast cancer surgeon and specialises in
onco-aesthetic breast conservation surgery, onco-aesthetic surgery and partial as well as whole breast reconstruction. He has a special interest in hereditary breast cancer and breast cancer in young women.
He is an Hon. Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, Kings College, London. He is an enthusiastic academic and teaches a range of students from undergraduate medicine to super-specialty MCh. courses in oncoplastic breast surgery, internationally. He is an executive committee member of the Indian Association of Surgical Oncology, the Breast Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons Association as well as the Asian Society of Mastology. He is a clinical tutor on the MCh. in oncoplastic breast surgery degree certification course conducted by the University of East Anglia, UK. in India. He also serves as an examiner for the FEBS European Board Certification examination in Breast surgery. Ashutosh, is regularly invited as a speaker to several key International Breast Cancer Conferences, masterclasses, surgical workshops, webinars and training courses.
He maintains an extensive research portfolio and amongst a host of other trials, is the principal investigator on a few unique first in man research trials involving novel intra-operative imaging techniques. He was also the
co-investigator on the first ever prospective trial on the use of biologics in breast reconstruction. He is extremely well published and has written several chapters in essential textbooks on breast cancer surgery. He serves on the editorial board of two international journals.
Dr. Orit Person
Dr Kaidar-Person an associate professor at Tel Aviv University and the director of the Breast Radiotherapy Unit at Sheba Medical Center, Israel. She is active in numerous professional societies, including the steering committee of EORTC - Breast Cancer Group, ESTRO Breast Cancer Faculty.
Serves a FALCON (Fellowship in Anatomic deLineation and CONtouring) core group and ESTRO's representative in the ABC (advanced breast cancer group).
She is involved in numerous research projects including the BRILLIANT project (ASCO-ICRF grant) and the Cinderella project (HORIZON-RIA 101057389). She co-authored more than 150 publications, book chapters and co-edited 3 radiation books.
Prof. Philip Poortmans
After a short stay in Turnhout, Belgium, Prof. Poortmans worked 23 years in Tilburg, followed by 3 years head of radiation oncology in Nijmegen and of Institut Curie each, returning closer to home in 2020 at the Iridium Netwerk and the University of Antwerp.
His Ph.D., thesis was on quality assurance in clinical trials in breast cancer in 2005 at the University of Maastricht, supervised by Professors Lambin and Van den Bogaert. He favours and encourages a genuine multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment. As president of ESTRO and ECCO, he has been heavily involved in international networking.
His involvement in teaching takes an important part of his time, as course director of the ESTRO Breast Courses and as faculty member of ESMO, ESSO and ESO. He is involved in multiple guidelines for breast cancer, serves on the editorial board of about 10 journals and published about 400 scientific articles and book chapters, co-editing 2 books.
Dr. Elena Provenzano
Dr Elena Provenzano is Lead Breast Histopathologist for Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, UK. Her main interests are the assessment of tumor response to neoadjuvant therapy and molecular biology of breast cancer and she is pathology lead for several breast cancer clinical trials including PARTNER.
Elena was co-lead author for the ICCR neoadjuvant minimum dataset. She is regional Pathology Professional Clinical Advisor for the NHS Breast Screening Program in the East of England overseeing Quality Assurance in breast cancer diagnosis and is a member of the Association of Breast Pathology and the AJCC Breast TNM committee.
