Extend your stay in Tokyo by an extra two nights and discover the vibrant city of Tokyo, where modern marvels meet traditional charm. Tokyo is one of the world’s most exciting cities, and at 12 million people, it is also one of the most populous. It is a thriving centre of economy, industry and culture and although crowded, it is clean, orderly and safe.  No other city in the world is like Tokyo, with its astonishing diversity and exotic blend of old and new as a strong sense of history and tradition remain. You will also find some of the world’s finest restaurants alongside the lively subculture of Japan’s youth. Each major district of Tokyo offers its own world of unique surprises, from art galleries, museums and concert halls, to large department stores, theater and more. There is literally something for everyone in Tokyo. 

The program will include a full day at leisure for optional half and full day tours to the likes of Hakone and Nikko.


Hakone & Mt Fuji

A full-day optional tour from Tokyo to Hakone and Mt. Fuji offers a fantastic opportunity to experience some of Japan's most iconic sights. Enjoy the breathtaking views  from Mt. Fuji's 5th Station located about halfway up the mountain. A scenic cruise on Lake Ashi, which was formed in the caldera of a volcano, provides stunning views of Mt. Fuji on clear days. Experience the Hakone Ropeway to Owakudani, a volcanic valley with active sulfur vents and hot springs. Here, you can try the famous black eggs, which are said to add seven years to your life. In the afternoon, visit Hakone Shrine, located on the shores of Lake Ashi. The shrine is known for its iconic red torii gate that stands in the water, making it a perfect photo spot. This full-day tour offers a mix of natural beauty, cultural experiences, and adventure, making it a perfect getaway from the bustling city of Tokyo.

Nikko

A day optional tour to Nikko from Tokyo is a fantastic way to explore the rich cultural and natural beauty of Japan. Start your day early by taking the train from Tokyo to Nikko, which takes about 2 hours. See the iconic Shinkyo Bridge, a beautiful red-lacquered bridge that marks the entrance to Nikko's sacred sites. Visit the Toshogu Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the lavishly decorated mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate. The intricate carvings and vibrant colors are truly mesmerizing. Afterward, explore Rinno-ji Temple, known for its beautiful gardens and the three large Buddha statues.  After lunch, visit Futarasan Shrine, another important Shinto shrine in Nikko. Then, take a peaceful walk through the Kanmangafuchi Abyss, a scenic gorge with a row of Jizo statues, which are believed to protect travelers.
